Joshua Tree Wedding + Morning After
Niki and Matt’s Joshua Tree wedding had that electric flare. The kind of warmth and creativity that makes you want to stay just a little longer. After changing their plans around more than once because of the pandemic, they decided on a Joshua Tree wedding that brought together the natural world with a good party. They landed on a music festival-inspired aesthetic that went perfectly with their venue: the Know Where Ranch out in the desert.
This ranch had one of the more creative ceremony spaces that I’ve seen in a Joshua Tree wedding. The simplicity of the wide frame around the couple as they said their vows was striking, and setting up the rows of chairs at an angle to the frame was a genius move.
The Morning After this Joshua Tree Wedding
But as beautiful as the ceremony was and as fun as the dinner and celebrations afterward were, I have to admit that my favorite part of the weekend was actually the morning after this Joshua Tree wedding. This is when I got to a morning after portrait session with Niki and Matt, time just for the three of us to really get creative and make something together.
Niki loves celebrating her body, so we had a great time playing around with different poses in just her veil and simple lingerie. Matt’s suits are a staple piece for him, so I made sure we incorporated his jacket into the shoot. Getting to use the bouquet from the day before added a romantic, nostalgic touch. One of the things that made this so fun was that I felt like we were all friends from the very beginning: these guys are some of the most special, down-to-earth people I’ve ever worked with. What a pleasure to document this milestone in their lives.
