Hotel Tiki Tiki Wedding In Tulum, Mexico

I love couples like Mel and Andy. The couples who’ve never taken professional photos before. The couples who are nervous about it. I want to help them. I want to wow them. I want them to wow themselves. I want them to know they can wow themselves. If I can turn one client’s world upside down, then it’s been a good day. Momma likes to overdeliver for her clients, and she definitely did for this wedding in Tulum.

So, let’s talk about it.

Their Story

It’s a quick one for this wedding in Tulum. They both work in LA in the media industry. Mel is a fashionista, which explains her unique wedding dress. We’ll get to that.

They love Palm Springs, so they wanted that colorful look. They found that in one of their favorite hotels, Hotel Tiki Tiki in Tulum.

Hotel Tiki Tiki gave them a small tropical feel. It felt like a place built to embrace its own history. A place that wouldn’t shy away from the weird, beautiful little thing that it was. A place that could and only wanted to be enjoyed by the few who would see that.

When looking for wedding photographers, Mel and Andy found me through Instagram. You can too, if you’re interested. I only take on so many clients a year, so get looking fast.

What I Did For This Wedding In Tulum

The thing I walk away from this shoot most proud of is making Mel and Andy feel incredible. They’d never been in front of a professional camera before, so they were nervous.

I do what I do for the photography, but I do it for the people too. For the moments they’re willing to share with me and the camera and themselves. It’s my job to help them to pull these moments out of themselves, to find that these moments are possible for them.

That starts with comforting them. I love providing comfort to all my clients, but especially to ones like Mel and Andy. I want them to feel heard and seen, supported and uplifted. I want them to feel free.

So, I created an environment where they felt like they could do anything and pose and be awesome. Mel and Andy nailed it.

Mel’s Wedding Dress

Shooting Mel’s wedding dress was one of my favorite moments from this wedding in Tulum. It was from a very well-known designer. I loved the way it crinkled on the stairs and flowed from Mel as Andy read his vows to her. I liked capturing its contrast with the dirty floor. Even better when she lay floating in the pool with it still on, Andy beside her, their minds and bodies carefree.

Mission accomplished.

The End

I could go on and on about Mel and Andy’s wedding in Tulum. I could go on and on about Mel and Andy. Not every word needs to be said though. There are pictures of this event, and I’m pretty proud of them. Enjoy.
