Jos & Katerina’s Joyful Denmark Elopement
Something that always brings me joy is when I connect with clients through past shoots. Katerina found me on Instagram after I shot a wedding she attended. She loved the photos, and she asked if I could capture her Denmark elopement with her fiancé, Jos.
I was so excited to be a part of this truly intimate moment for Jos and Katerina. They were very intentional with their day. It was just focused on them.
No decor, no fuss, just these two and their love for one another. Jos and Katerina wanted to have their Denmark elopement in a courtyard of a library in the city. The whole experience was unique, and I felt honored to capture this moment in time for them.
Jos & Katerina
Jos and Katerina have a long-game story to their relationship. Jos is an amazing chef at a 5-star restaurant in Copenhagen, and Katerina is an incredible writer living in Denver. They met when they were living in California and started a long-distance relationship.
Clearly, it survived the test of time, and their love grew with every day. They obviously care a lot about how they spend their time and energy, so it’s no surprise that they had thought long and hard about how they wanted to spend their wedding day.
Even though Katerina is newer to Copenhagen, she and Jos had already found their haunts. These two tend to find home wherever they go.
Minimalist Denmark Elopement
Jos and Katerina had a gorgeous ceremony. They wrote vows that were specifically curated towards their shared experiences and their hopes for the future. Neither of them wore traditional wedding attire, which I loved.
After they said their vows, we explored the city and went to some of their favorite places to shoot wedding photos. These two are anything but traditional. Jos and Katerina wanted to explore non-traditional wedding poses and locations.
We had a wonderful time exploring the city, taking pictures and basking in the joy of the day. Copenhagen really showed us a wonderful time, and Jos and Katerina could not have been happier with how the day turned out.
Final Thoughts
I think a lot of people think about wedding photos and get bored with the idea of pomp and circumstance. Even tradition isn’t traditional anymore. The more we explore and find unique ways to express ourselves, the more authentic we can be.
Wedding photography should be more like that, too, in my opinion. When you look back on your wedding day, it should be about more than the cake. It should be about more than the wedding dress. It should remind you of how the day felt.
Shooting Jos and Katerina’s elopement was wonderful. Honestly, just witnessing them and their relationship was really special. If you have a wedding or elopement coming up and are looking for a non-traditional wedding photographer, let’s connect. I’d love to hear all about it.
